Attractions

There are numerous lakes to visit, including Llyn Alaw, renowned as one of Wales' most productive lakes. Choose the challenge of the sea, perched precariously on a rocky promontory or you could experience the open spaces and spectacular sunsets of a sandy beach at dusk.

Heritage

The beautiful 13th Century castle town of Beaumaris, with its streets lined with a unique combination of Edwardian and Georgian architecture and quaint Welsh cottages, was once the capital of Anglesey. The French meaning of Beaumaris is 'Beautiful Marshes', which holds true when you witness the beautiful scenery, and pay a visit to the many heritage sights the town has to offer.

Culture

Anglesey is perhaps best known though for its famous village with Europe's longest place name:
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch (click here to hear it pronounced). The Welsh national language is rarely spoken throughout Wales, the Isle of Anglesey is a refreshing exception, with almost 70% of the local population speaking Welsh.
